Volunteer Lead Programs & Events Positions

We are currently looking for volunteers to fill the role as lead chairs for the following positions for the 2019-2020 school year.  Chair leads will be assigned a team to help with carrying out each event. Volunteer events will be held in the beginning of the school year to build teams for each position. Questions? Email PTA Presidents Megan Luce or Rina Kelting

 

Room Parent Coordinator:  facilitates Room Parent training & communication for upcoming events

 

Traffic Committee:  facilitates safe roads for pedestrians and cars for the school and organizes communications with council and school. Could include students, too!

 

PDL Spring Auction:  organizes a procurement team for community donations and organizes, uploads items online, and manages distribution of auction items; attends a training session in December

 

Corporate Sponsorships:  identifies and procures corporate donations to assist and support the enrichment programs

 

Grant Writing:  seeks and applies for grants

 

Restaurant Nights:  organizes fundraisers with local restaurants

 

Fall Festival:  organizes and oversees a team of volunteers for our annual Fall Festival

 

Spirit Wear:  orders, sells, and promotes PDL Spirit Wear

 

Book Exchange:  organizes the school book exchange; kids drop off gently used books the first week and collect a ticket voucher that can be used to trade for other books the following week.

 

Geo Club:  Coach 4th/5th/6th Graders for geography competitions; club meets one day a week after school from September through January

 

Garden Committee:  oversees the school gardens

 

Green Team/Environment Committee Chair:  coordinates student or parent led environmental initiatives on campus; works with a team to promote sustainable practices on campus, encourages waste-free lunches, runs grade-based recycling contests twice a year, and attends monthly Green Team Meetings (most likely 3rd Thursday of the month, children welcome)

 

Taste of PDL Potluck:  organizes evening potluck celebrating diversity; typically held in January

 

Facebook:  updates PTA Facebook page

 

Panther Yearbook: oversee a team to put together the PDL yearbook; run a cover art contest, advertise for sales, coordinate Love Lines, collect and arrange grade level photograph pages from each grade level’s room parent

 

Variety Show:  organize try-outs, rehearsals, and oversee the Variety Show

 

Winter Wonderland:  organize a team of people to purchase and pick up gingerbread houses and cookies for decoration, decorate the MPR, set up a hot chocolate bar, and order pizza for the Winter Wonderland
